In addition to his expertise and focus on these diseases, Dr. DeLo’s background makes him a perfect fit for the Carolina Arthritis staff. He comes from a long line of people in the healthcare field. This includes a father who obtained a PhD in Psychology, a mother who was a RN, two brothers who are physicians (Hem/Onc and ED physicians), and a wife who is currently practicing as an Ob/Gyn in Brunswick County.

After earning his degree from West Virginia University, he continued his training with an internship at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. He completed his residency in internal medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He then completed a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He continued practicing rheumatology at UPMC for roughly 8 years as a clinical professor of medicine. He served as an outpatient clinical site director as well as a medical director for UPMC East Hospital.

Dr. DeLo and his family were instantly drawn to the beauty of the Wilmington area and relocated here in 2017. In addition to captivating scenery, he was excited for the opportunity to join Carolina Arthritis Associates’ physician-led practice. Dr. DeLo practices by listening to his patient’s problems and making proper diagnosis and sensible treatment plans a number one priority. His mission is to promote a comfortable experience for his patients and build good and trusted relationships based on mutual respect.
